Michele Sapanaro is a childbirth educator and doula who had her initial experience with yoga in 2002. It was so powerful that she immediately began her deep study and practice of Ashtanga yoga. From that point on, she has become completely immersed in a myriad of teacher trainings, yogic philosophy, Sanskrit study, workshops, instructing students, and her personal practice.
Michele holds a 500-hour advanced teacher training certification from Yoga Synthesis and specialty certifications in Prenatal, Chair, and Yin Yoga. Additionally, she is a certified Reiki level two practitioner. Michele is recognized as a senior teacher throughout New York City and the tri-state area. She has created and implemented workshops, classes, and trainings for YogaWorks, International Center for the Disabled, The Jewish Community Center, and Yoga Synthesis. She is the owner and creator of Shining Light Yoga where she uses her unique style and expertise to create sustainable, safe, individualized, and therapeutic practices for all.
Since its inception, Michele and her husband John have supported Kula for Karma through their involvement of funding programs. Michele has nurtured Kula teachers, and has also been a guest instructor at Kulathon. Michele and Kula for Karma are aligned in their mission of using yoga as a framework for personal observation and transformation.
