Minaxi Jhawer, MD
Minaxi Jhawer, MD, is a hematologist/oncologist and Director of Gastrointestinal Medical Oncology at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center. She joined the EHMC medical staff and its affiliated physician practice, Hematology Oncology Physicians of Englewood, P.A., in 2009, from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
Dr. Jhawer has expertise in caring for patients with stomach, pancreatic, colon, and small bowel cancers. In addition to leading the multidisciplinary gastrointestinal conference at EHMC, Dr. Jhawer also partners with colleagues at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Weill Cornell Medicine, at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai on clinical trials and collaborative care for oncology patients in the proximity of their homes in New Jersey. An assistant professor at Mount Sinai, she is actively involved in cancer research and has presented her work at national conferences, such as the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and GI ASCO, and in national and international medical journals.
Dr. Jhawer is also deeply committed to integrative therapies and treating patients on a holistic level. She successfully launched a therapeutic yoga program at EHMC for patients with cancer in partnership with Kula for Karma.
After receiving her medical degree from Padmashree Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Mumbai, India, Dr. Jhawer relocated to the United States to pursue additional training. She completed postdoctoral fellowship training at Johns Hopkins, internal medicine residency at Jacobi Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and a hematology and oncology fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Jhawer holds board certification in internal medicine, medical oncology, and hematology.
