Your
services will be greatly appreciated by those individuals
whose lives you'll touch, no matter how much time you can
give. It's important to remember, however, that people with
special needs thrive on consistency, so please consider making
at least an 8 to 10 week commitment.
NEW JERSEY
Bergen County
Children with Autism Program
This program has been an on-going success and touched
the lives of children with autism from ages 5-8 and 9-14.
Healthy teens have been volunteering to work side by with
the younger children and the combination has been nothing
short of spectacular. The yoga teacher guides the class
and everyone else follows along learning breath, movement
and joy.

Children's Aid and Family Services (CAFS)
The group homes in which Kula serves can be separated into two categories. First, the group homes for adolescents provide safe, nurturing, therapeutic environments for adolescents who have experienced significant disruptions in their lives as a result of neglect, abuse, or other family problems. Path One and Path Two group homes strive to provide a controlled, therapeutic environment for children under 12 years of age who have serious attachment and victimization issues and consequently require specialized care in a more structured setting. Path homes provide small group, community-based care for up to eight children. The children participate in local recreational, social, and religious activities.
Other group homes for adolescents that provide care for up to 10 adolescents in a community-based environment. The youth attend public schools, volunteer and work in the community, and participate in community recreational, cultural and religious activities.
Treatment in all group homes is provided by an interdisciplinary team, which includes all youth counselors, a therapist, case manager, psychiatrist, psychiatric and pediatric nurses, and administrative and supervisory personnel. Education professionals are also available as needed. Location: Multiple Sites, Bergen County, New Jersey
