Where Your Dollars Go...
Kula for Karma, a 501(c)3 organization, offers therapeutic yoga and other mindfulness techniques to people who would not otherwise have access to holistic interventions. To achieve our mission of offering yoga at no charge to those who have been challenged by difficult circumstances, 80% of all donations go directly towards programming.
We are continuing to expand our services and were recently profiled as a ‘Donor of the Day’ in The Wall Street Journal (“A Push for Yoga and Meditation” by Melanie Grayce West, July 20, 2011). In just four years, Kula for Karma has launched more than 30 active programs in the New York Metropolitan area. Over 300 highly trained volunteer instructors serve diverse populations, such as:

- At-risk youth
- Disabilities (including Autism, Down Syndrome)
- Illness (including Cancer, Diabetes, Eating Disorders)
Adult Services
- Wheelchair-bound seniors
- Adults receiving acute rehab

On November 4, 2011, Kula for Karma will be holding its 4th annual fundraiser at Preakness Hills Country Club in Wayne, New Jersey. We will be honoring Dr. Andre Goy, a world-renowned oncologist and pioneer in cancer research at the John Theurer Cancer Center at Hackensack University Medical Center (HUMC). Kula for Karma recently launched a hospital-based integrative approach to healing at HUMC, where oncologists are prescribing chemo, radiation and yoga to treat the whole person, not just the disease.
We are in the midst of securing sponsors and partners for our signature fundraising event at Preakness Hills, which attracts upscale attendees from the New York metropolitan area. We are reaching out to like-minded companies to be part of this special event.
