Jackie’s early career was as a computer systems programmer and manager. A position teaching these same skills in a corporate environment opened her eyes to the joys of teaching. She applied her teaching skills to her favorite art, quilting and has shared her knowledge and love of quilting over past 20 years. After starting her practice in 2002, her love and enthusiasm for yoga inspired her to complete the 200-hour Hatha Yoga Teacher Certification at Ramapo College of New Jersey in April of 2011. Since then, she has completed Teaching Chair Yoga: The Sitting Mountain Series Teacher Training at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health and the Advanced Teacher Training: Gentle Yoga Immersion at Birchwood Center for Yoga & Massage, Nyack, NY. Quilting and yoga are both meditative practices and compliment each other in so many ways.
Jackie has been teaching the Yoga for Veterans class at the Ridgewood YMCA since May, 2013. “It is with much gratitude that I teach a Yoga for Veterans class for Kula for Karma, in partnership with Team RWB, and the Ridgewood YMCA. Leading a practice that moves with intention, breath, acceptance, and a little bit of humor, is my way to express thanks for all of those who have sacrificed so much for all of us. The wonderful energy created when the veterans come together to practice has made this class a joy to lead.”
Thank you for all that you do, Jackie! We are thrilled to have you as a part of the Kula community.
