One of our favorite things about yoga is that it has a positive impact on both our mental and physical health. Unlike other forms of exercise that might focus more on physical results, yoga also helps you refocus and center your mind – especially when coupled with meditation. If you’re interested in learning more, we’ve shared a great deal of the medical research around the physical and psychological benefits of yoga here.
And new studies that corroborate these findings are published all the time. In fact, in a recent study by the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health, yoga was shown not only to improve mental and physical wellness, but also to positively change individuals’ habits. According to the study, more than two-thirds of those monitored reported an improvement in overall health. Plus, nearly two-thirds of yoga users reported that they were motivated to exercise more regularly as a result of their practice, and 4 in 10 reported they were motivated to eat healthier.
Yoga is also an incredible tool for stress reduction and relief. This same study showed that more than 80 percent of yoga users experienced reduced stress as a result of practicing yoga. And over 55 percent said that their sleep improved as a result of their practice too. Those are pretty incredible results!
