At Kula, we focus on providing yoga to communities in need who face physical and mental health challenges, and we believe in the mental and physical power of yoga for all people. Practicing yoga helps us navigate stressful days, manage anxiety, and generally take the time to refocus and regroup.
For many of us, summer means travel time. And for some, traveling makes it difficult to take proper care of ourselves because of a lack of accessible equipment, facilities, or time. On top of that, travel can be stressful. Luckily, yoga practice doesn’t have to stop just because we’re on the move. In fact, you can do yoga almost anywhere – yet another reason why we love it.
To make it as easy as possible for you to maintain your yoga practice while traveling, we’ve put together a few tips that will help you along the way:
Prepare in advance
Before you head out on your adventures, get yourself ready. Pack your favorite yoga pants, a mat, and whatever else you’ll need to do yoga while you’re away. You could even download a yoga app!
Develop a travel routine
Even though travel means a departure from your normal routine, you’ll be more likely to stick with your yoga practice if you come up with a new routine while you’re on the go. For example, plan to do yoga at a certain time of day or on certain days of the week. Then, you can anticipate and plan around your practice, so it doesn’t get lost in the shuffle.
Keep it simple
When you’re doing yoga on the go, it’s best to stick to daily practice that is both simple and manageable. Try Sun Salutations or this yoga workout you can do anywhere. The simpler your routine, the more likely you’ll be to stick with it while traveling.
