As you may know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. But did you also know that in the United States, half of all men and one-third of all women will develop some form of cancer during their lifetimes?
Numerous studies have shown that modified yoga has a positive impact on those who are battling cancer. Patients report reduced blood pressure, depression, and anxiety, as well as better hormonal balance and stress management, and an overall improvement in quality of life.
As a result, many hospitals are now including yoga and meditation as part of their integrative medicine programming. We’ve been at the forefront. Kula for Karma partners with hospitals and cancer treatment programs to provide a modified yoga practice to their patients.
In honor of those who have been affected by cancer, we’re hosting an Instagram challenge this month: #Kula4Cancer!
There will be two amazing prizes for the winner:
- An oncology massage from Namaste Organic Spa in Ridgewood, NJ. Because we want to focus on those who have been affected by cancer, the oncology massage is for those who are currently undergoing treatment. If you are not undergoing treatment yourself, you can support someone who is by giving them the massage as a gift.
- Two tickets to the Kula for Karma Gala on November 2nd. Click through to learn about this inspiring and delicious evening in support of Kula for Karma’s programs!
- Between now and October 31st, post a photo on Instagram of someone doing yoga who has been affected by cancer. These photos can be of anyone – you, a sibling, parent, friend, or co-worker – whether they've had cancer themselves or supported a loved one. Share your (or their) story of strength and resilience!
- Include #Kula4Cancer in your caption, and tag @kulaforkarma in the photo.
- Have Fun!
We will randomly select and announce the winner on November 1st, so the more you enter, the better your chances of winning!
