2019 Gala Honoree: Dr. Steven Topfer

Dr. Steven Topfer

DO, Senior Vice President, Sheridan Healthcorp; Anesthesiologist, Hackensack University Medical Center

Dr. Steven A. Topfer serves as Senior Vice President and Regional Medical Director for Sheridan Healthcorp's New York/New Jersey operations. In addition to his medical appointments, Dr. Topfer, an ABA board-certified anesthesiologist, has served as Clinical Assistant Professor at both Touro University College of Medicine and Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. Dr. Topfer attended Emory University and graduated with a B.A. in Chemistry. He received his medical degree in 1987 from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, and completed residency in Anesthesiology at the Rutgers University Medical School residency program at Hackensack University Medical Center. As market leader, Dr. Topfer provides operational and hospital-based, clinical and management initiatives and solutions. Maintains accountability for overall development and performance of region. Leads the development of New Jersey Healthcare Specialists, spearheading business development, third party payer contracting negotiations, regional operations, and co-management of the large Hackensack Anesthesiology Associates component of NJHS. Seven year board member and Vice President of KulaforKarma.org, a nonprofit organization providing stress reduction training, at no cost, to patients suffering with cancer, long term illnesses, and other communities in need.


2019 Gala Honoree: Thomas Filan 

Tom Filan

Tom Filan

Thomas has been practicing yoga for over fifty years and teaching for thirty, including five years at Hudson County Correctional and Rehabilitation Center in Kearny, NJ, and for Integrity House in Newark.

His specialty is teaching therapeutic yoga for people in recovery in jails, prisons and rehabilitation centers. He has a 200-hour yoga teacher certification. He is also trained to work with veterans and cancer patients.

Restaurants and culinary artists from all over the region will be hosting tapas-style tasting stations interspersed with wine stations for over 350 guests. The event also features live music.

Those under the age of 30 can purchase a Young Professional ticket for $150.
